Denisha has been in the
Health Information Management field for over 20 years. She
holds both an undergraduate and graduate degree in Health
Administration from the University of Central Florida. Denisha's
understanding and expertise in the area of
professional and technical coding, prospective payment
systems, healthcare regulatory compliance, medical
necessity, risk management, charge master review and HIPAA
education and training provide our clients with sound and
proven experience.
Denisha’s experiences
include Vice President of Compliance
and HIPAA Solutions for a national healthcare software company.
She developed and
implemented a company Compliance Plan and HIPAA program.
She assisted over 400 clients in the area of Medicare
Compliance while working with over 45 Fiscal Intermediaries
and Carriers nationwide. Her HIPAA activities included
active participation in organizations such as WEDI, SHARP,
and AFHECT in addition to one-on-one visits with CMS
representatives. Prior to that, Denisha was the Corporate
Compliance Officer for the Sarasota Memorial Healthcare
System in Sarasota, Florida where she developed and
implemented a system-wide Corporate Compliance Program. In
addition to her full time employment, she continues to teach
coding courses at St. Petersburg College and she also
participates in AHIMA audio conferences as a
presenter/co-presenter. Throughout the years, Denisha has
been very active with local health information management
organizations, participated on the Compliance Task Force and
Program Committee of AHIMA and has held the position of
President of the Florida Health Information Management
Association in 1999. Since 2005, Denisha has been working
with a variety of law firms and insurance companies to develop a resource of "Expert
Witness" medical record consultants.
